Techdirt is an independently owned tech-policy blog operated by Floor64, Inc. and founded by Mike Masnick in 1997. It covers the intersection of technology, law, and policy from a left-center perspective, with a strong emphasis on free speech, copyright reform, and civil liberties. Since early 2025, it has sharpened its critical focus on the Trump administration's effects on democratic institutions and technology policy.
