Background
WUNC signed on in 1952 as a UNC-Chapel Hill student/educational station and grew into North Carolina's largest NPR affiliate, now reaching listeners statewide through a network of repeater stations and acquisitions (including a 2023 purchase of WFSS serving the Sandhills/Fayetteville area).
