CGTN

CGTN is the English-language international news channel of China's state broadcaster, ultimately controlled by the Chinese Communist Party's propaganda apparatus and funded entirely by the state. Its coverage promotes Beijing's official positions and generally avoids criticism of the Chinese government while covering the world, including the U.S., through that lens. On the Trump administration, CGTN's coverage is mixed: it reports U.S. tariff and trade actions critically when they target China, but has covered some U.S.-China engagement (such as the 2026 Xi-Trump talks) in a relatively even-handed, deal-oriented tone.
