The National is an English-language news outlet in Abu Dhabi, owned by a company controlled by a member of the UAE ruling family. The Financial Times has described it as seen as a mouthpiece for Abu Dhabi's worldview, and it generally follows the UAE government's line. Its coverage of the Trump administration is mostly factual and focused on Gulf policy, Iran and regional diplomacy, and it generally supports the UAE-U.S. partnership.

Owned byInternational Media Investments (IMI), a company owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is a UAE vice president and deputy prime minister, and the brother of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed. IMI bought the paper from the government-owned Abu Dhabi Media in 2017.
